Seriously!?! Michigan trying to ban 'Pit Bulls'

In a time where Michigan's unemployment rate is over 10% and we can't afford to keep our schools open, I love to hear that we're wasting money trying to put House Bill No. 4714 though. Now I honestly feel like all I can say is "Seriously!?!" are we still doing this? Blaming a entire breed of dog for what horrible individuals do to innocent animals! You can take any dog and make it mean! Before it was rottweilers & doberman that everyone demonized; people are always looking for a scapegoat! Honestly when are these 'Lawmakers' going to realized that they need stricter laws on the people that commit these crimes against animals, and not blindly punish a breed. I'm pretty sure that we all learned in kindergarden that we don't judge a book by its cover, I'm not sure why logical adults can't seem to grasp that. You know what will happen if this bill passes, irresponsible evil people will find another breed. They'll pick boxers or american bulldogs or any other strong breed that would work (not to mention that many fighting dogs labeled as 'pits' are mixes of many other breeds) ; so what happens then? Do we ban those dogs too? Or would they finally realize that the problem lies in the people who abuse dogs and make them mean. I really, really, wish that before introducing a bill like this, a little research would be done.
From the United Kennel Club website
         "CHARACTERISTICS
The essential characteristics of the American Pit Bull Terrier are strength, confidence, and zest for life. This breed is eager to please and brimming over with enthusiasm. APBTs make excellent family companions and have always been noted for their love of children..........The APBT is not the best choice for a guard dog since they are extremely friendly, even with strangers. Aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable. This breed does very well in performance events because of its high level of intelligence and its willingness to work."

I just don't understand how we got to this point? The American Pit Bull Terrier is exactly that American! Sgt. Stubby is the most decorated dog in military history, because during World War I he saved his unit countless times, warning them of incoming fire that would have killed them had it not been for a pit bull. The Little Rascals dog was a pit bull. They were highly sought after to be 'Nanny Dogs' to watch after children. Helen Keller had a pit bull. This breed of dog goes back almost as far as our country and is a part of our vary history, trying to ban them is the most un-patriotic thing I have ever witnessed.
.

And now we want to ban this wonderful breed? Why? I just don't understand.
You can take any type of dog and from a puppy, poke it and taunt it, starve and beat it and you will end up with a aggressive angry animal; and shouldn't it be? Imagine that was any creature, imagine that was a child, do you blame children for their abuse or do you punish those responsible for the abuse. Banning American Pit Bull Terriers, would do nothing to stop dog fighting or even aggressive dogs, because its not addressing the problem of the people actually raising these dogs to be mean! If it wasn't pit bulls it would be another. All puppies are innocent, you cannot point a finger at pit bulls and think that it is solving a problem. All its doing is depriving people of a wonderful loving family dog! I know that I never want to own a different kind of dog!

If you think like I do check out his link It has some more information about the bill  and I encourage you to send your most professional letters/e-mails, to the Representative that introduced the bill Tim Bledsoe and the Regulatory Reform Commission (who could oppose the bill) So they can see just how many responsible, loyal and loving owners there is out there!!!

So now that I've got this that off my chest I'm going to post some photos of my babies!!!
