Seriously!?! Michigan trying to ban 'Pit Bulls'

In a time where Michigan's unemployment rate is over 10% and we can't afford to keep our schools open, I love to hear that we're wasting money trying to put House Bill No. 4714 though. Now I honestly feel like all I can say is "Seriously!?!" are we still doing this? Blaming a entire breed of dog for what horrible individuals do to innocent animals! You can take any dog and make it mean! Before it was rottweilers & doberman that everyone demonized; people are always looking for a scapegoat! Honestly when are these 'Lawmakers' going to realized that they need stricter laws on the people that commit these crimes against animals, and not blindly punish a breed. I'm pretty sure that we all learned in kindergarden that we don't judge a book by its cover, I'm not sure why logical adults can't seem to grasp that. You know what will happen if this bill passes, irresponsible evil people will find another breed. They'll pick boxers or american bulldogs or any other strong breed that would work (not to mention that many fighting dogs labeled as 'pits' are mixes of many other breeds) ; so what happens then? Do we ban those dogs too? Or would they finally realize that the problem lies in the people who abuse dogs and make them mean. I really, really, wish that before introducing a bill like this, a little research would be done.
From the United Kennel Club website
         "CHARACTERISTICS
The essential characteristics of the American Pit Bull Terrier are strength, confidence, and zest for life. This breed is eager to please and brimming over with enthusiasm. APBTs make excellent family companions and have always been noted for their love of children..........The APBT is not the best choice for a guard dog since they are extremely friendly, even with strangers. Aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable. This breed does very well in performance events because of its high level of intelligence and its willingness to work."

I just don't understand how we got to this point? The American Pit Bull Terrier is exactly that American! Sgt. Stubby is the most decorated dog in military history, because during World War I he saved his unit countless times, warning them of incoming fire that would have killed them had it not been for a pit bull. The Little Rascals dog was a pit bull. They were highly sought after to be 'Nanny Dogs' to watch after children. Helen Keller had a pit bull. This breed of dog goes back almost as far as our country and is a part of our vary history, trying to ban them is the most un-patriotic thing I have ever witnessed.
.

And now we want to ban this wonderful breed? Why? I just don't understand.
You can take any type of dog and from a puppy, poke it and taunt it, starve and beat it and you will end up with a aggressive angry animal; and shouldn't it be? Imagine that was any creature, imagine that was a child, do you blame children for their abuse or do you punish those responsible for the abuse. Banning American Pit Bull Terriers, would do nothing to stop dog fighting or even aggressive dogs, because its not addressing the problem of the people actually raising these dogs to be mean! If it wasn't pit bulls it would be another. All puppies are innocent, you cannot point a finger at pit bulls and think that it is solving a problem. All its doing is depriving people of a wonderful loving family dog! I know that I never want to own a different kind of dog!

If you think like I do check out his link It has some more information about the bill  and I encourage you to send your most professional letters/e-mails, to the Representative that introduced the bill Tim Bledsoe and the Regulatory Reform Commission (who could oppose the bill) So they can see just how many responsible, loyal and loving owners there is out there!!!

MMA + Art = Sweet!

So I saw this on Cagepotato.com today and anything that combines two of my loves is worth sharing! I am huge into MMA, run my own MMA clothing company and have been training in it for quite a few years now, no fight career plans by any means (thats my fiances forte) but I'd certainly consider myself knowledgeable on the subject. Art....always my love! So when I saw the article MMA Art That Doesn't Suck I was in!

I started thinking about the photo of the day post yesterday, I really like the idea of doing one a day because it pushes me photograph and edit something new daily! Keeps me in practice & out adventuring so heres the second photo of the day!

Mike (my fiancĂ©) mowing the grass in Chuck Taylors, thought they looked pretty neat sitting on the porch. Sorta "new vintage" if you will.

DIY Wire Wedding Hanger Tutorial

Check out my new blog for more DIY! ThinkPinkAJourney.wordpress.com

I am having a blast planning my wedding! I am definitely a do it yourself kind of bride and it has honestly pushed my creativity. Not only do you save a ton of money but you really get to put personal touches into your big day! I love the wire hangers with the bridesmaids names on them and here is my tutorial on how I made them so you can do it too!

What you will need

12 gage floral wire
(I used about 2 rolls for 5 bridesmaids and a bride and groom one) Found at Michaels
Wooden hangers
can be bought just about anywhere, the cheapest I found them was Walmart & Meijer
Wire Cutter
Super Glue
I used the 'Goop' brand craft glue and it worked really well, dried fast.
small drill bit or a screw
I used a small hook screw to make the hole to put the wire in (we don't have a drill, its on our registry list lol) but a small drill bit would be much quicker.
Round bottle top
or similar item to help you shape the round letters and keep them consistent (ex b & d)

Step 1: Practice! There really isn't any doing over once you start the lettering in the wire, if you start un-doing the letting and re-doing, the wire gets kinked up and it won't ever look smooth. So practice, look up images of wedding hangers and find a lettering that you like and copy, you want you lettering to be consistent, for photos :-D

Step 2: Form you names leaving a little extra on the sides so you can center it on the hanger.

Step 3: Make the holes in the hanger.

Step 4: Center and clip your name, making sure to leave enough that fits into the holes.

Step 5: Put super glue into the holes of the hanger and insert the wire into the holes. Lay on a flat surface to dry, secure the wire into the holes for drying if necessary (I found a little bit of painters tape works to hold the wire if it moves on you)

Let dry over night to be safe and then enjoy your custom wedding hangers!!!

RIP The Legend Randy Savage

I had a couple of ideas for my first blog post, then I woke up this morning and found out that The Macho Man Randy Savage had passed away. So I decided to dedicate my first blog post to him. He was truly a legend in pro wrestling, any fan knows what a huge & jarring impact he made on wrestling. His match at Wrestlemania 3 against Ricky Steamboat stole the show! People of all ages tuned in every week to see what he was going to do. He was one of the greatest and he will be missed. I thought I'd share a couple of my favorite Macho Man videos. Hope you enjoy!

And just for fun :-D
